This event is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>This symposium, the first social justice activity of SSRI\u2019s 2015-2016 academic year, is sponsored by our Explorations in Diversity and Academic Excellence Grant, received from the SUNY Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>An exciting morning with renowned Native American experts has been planned. The Inter-tribal panel will be followed by the screening of the film \u201c<em>Shinnecock<\/em>,\u201d a historical perspective of Long Island\u2019s Native Americans. As the filmmaker has stated so poignantly, and a sentiment underscored by the Social Science Research Institute, \u201cNo group can afford to be marginalized.\u201d Each diverse group contributes resources that must be cherished and honored. Following the film there will be an extensive Q&amp;A and discussion session.<\/p>\n<p>All are welcome! Bring your curiosity! This event will provide us with \u201cthe history you didn\u2019t know you didn\u2019t know.\u201d Contact Dr. Miriam K.
