Dental Hygiene Students Shine at Henry Schein Oral Screening Event
November 21, 2016
Forty-eight FSC dental hygiene students and five department faculty recently visited the corporate offices of Henry Schein Inc. to perform free oral cancer education and screenings. By the end of the day, 229 Henry Schein employees had received treatment.
Henry Schein – a major supplier of dental, medical and veterinary products – is a booster of the dental hygiene program, led by Maureen Knott, Vice President of Product Advertising and a member of the program’s advisory board. A Henry Schein team joined with Dr. Maureen Tsokris, chair of the dental hygiene program, and members of her faculty to organize the event.
“The feedback from both the employees at Henry Schein and our students was very positive and we are looking to make this an annual event,” Dr. Tsokris said.
Student Marni Ornstein added: “This was a great opportunity to establish a partnership with the professionals who work to create the products which we, as future health professionals, will rely on to improve the health of our patients.”
