New Director at Memorial Gallery

Beth Giacummo, one of Long Island’s leading artists, arts activists, curators and educators has joined Farmingdale State College as director of Memorial Gallery.
Giacummo has been a booster of the arts on Long Island for many years, and also holds the position of Curatorial & Exhibition Director/Sr. Curator at the Islip Art Museum. Her background includes founding member and president of the Patchogue Arts Council; chair of Graphics/Promotions for the PAC (M)usic (A)rt (C)inema Festival; co-chair of the Patchogue Arts Festival; and co-chair of South Shore Arts Tour – Long Island’s largest arts tour, linking Bellport to Babylon. Most recently she has joined the BOCES Art in Education Advisory Board, and continues to provide private consulting to curators, artist and art professionals.
As an artist, she has exhibited her work and participated in artist residencies both regionally and internationally, in venues throughout New York, Romania, Russia, Spain, Italy, Chile and Denmark. Her mixed media and large-scale inflatable sculptures have been exhibited through the Patchogue Arts Council, Dowling College and the Salton Stall Foundation.
Giacummo’s first exhibition features LI artist Colin Goldberg through November 15.
