International Business Gets a Boost at FSC
October 24, 2016
More than 100 FSC students attended last week’s session on international business opportunities and best practices, says Dr. Jing Betty Feng, organizer of the event.
Speakers from the U.S. Commercial Service – Susan Sadocha, Director, U.S. Commercial Service Long Island and Philip Hammerstein, Commercial Specialist, Embassy of the United States of America, U.S. Commercial Service – helped students – most of whom are enrolled in BUS280 International Business – connect their learning in the classroom to the world of international commerce. The session had an emphasis on exporting to the European Union, the Netherlands in particular.
Students who attended are undertaking a project – ExportUSA – in which they will develop a plan for exporting a product or service to a foreign country. Students will conduct an in-depth country analysis of the cultural, political, legal, and economic environments in order to make a successful business proposal.
“It was standing-room only and such a pleasure to see international business students fully engaged by what they were hearing,” said FSC College Council member Kathleen Ferrell. “Kudos to Dr. Feng for creating this learning opportunity.”
