Lijian Xu and Maya Bentz have each won $10K Innovative Instruction Technology Grants  to fund projects that SUNY has identified as “campus innovations and initiatives in instructional technology that have the strongest potential to be replicated across SUNY’s 64 campuses, benefiting more students, faculty, and staff.”

Xu, a member of the EET/CET department faculty, won for a project aimed at exploring and developing accessible microprocessor simulation, co-simulation learning models that can be potentially adopted by multiple SUNY campuses.  Bentz, a senior instructional designer for distance learning, developed a project that uses an innovative approach in developing an interactive virtual learning community, offering students necessary tools and resources to be successful in online courses and accommodating at-risk, non-traditional and adult learners.

“This competitive grant program continues to position SUNY as a leader in innovative instructional practices while enabling us to take programs that work at one campus and expand them across SUNY to benefit more of our students and faculty,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.

Thirty-five grants were distributed from among 78 submissions.
