The Construction of the American Landscape in Italian Immigrant Consciousness, 1880-1920
Dr. Joseph J. Inguanti, Visiting Scholar in the Department of Urban Horticulture, will present a lecture on the Italian immigrant experience with period imagery of the American landscape.
Inguanti’s interdisciplinary lecture will explore how poverty, promotional posters, literature, and the marketing of the American landscape as paradise contributed to the massive influx of Italians to the United States between1880 and 1920.
