Interning at Canon USA
April 23, 2018
Canon USA was on campus recently, recruiting summer interns.
Electrical/computer engineering technology student Montana Musillo wasn’t worrying about the competition though, because she’d already been hired for Canon’s 10-week Summer Insights program.
The program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects and exposure to various business units within the company. Musillo will perform research, testing and analysis of related products and markets; assist in project management and product launches; support marketing initiatives, from trade shows to collateral, to presentations; and provide client support and troubleshooting.
“Prior to my interview, I had put together a portfolio of pictures from different projects I have worked on since 2012, including FIRST Robotics, FSC IEEE Club projects, state-funded student research, and my own independent research. I think that was the thing that set me apart from the other candidates and got me the job,” Musillo said.
“I feel my technical background was something they really liked, as well as the experience I had with business, after winning the regional for the 2017 DARE competition.” (DARE is a NYS student business-plan competition.)
“I’m very excited to start working. It will pose new challenges for me professionally, and encourage me to keep learning and trying new things. I’m interested in all the different things I will learn beyond engineering.”
