Technology Grad Headed for Job with Google
May 22, 2017
Wagner Cepeda Aquino, a spring 2017 graduate, is headed to California in July to join Google’s Information Technology Residency Program.
Says Aquino about hitting the Big Time: “I began applying for jobs anywhere and everywhere. My vibrant hope faded dim, and I nearly felt like giving up. But something tugged at my core, reminding me that I have worked hard, and all it would take is one ‘yes’ to pave my path for post-graduation. In February, I was suddenly approached by a recruiter from Google through a LinkedIn offering. The offer was for their Information Technology Residency Program that Google begins in July. I immediately took interest, and began completing the strenuous, detail-oriented interviews. I went through three phone calls and three Google hang-out (video) interviews. After thanking them for the feedback and opportunity, I ended those calls feeling like I didn’t get the position. I was ecstatic to receive word in April that I was accepted into the program.”
Aquino is an international student from the Dominican Republic, which awarded him a full scholarship to attend FSC. He earned a degree in Computer Programming and Information Systems; served as an SGA Senator; and was a member of the Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams. He is a member of Epsilon Pi Tau Honor Society.
