Scholarships to Technology Students

FSC recently hosted the Thirteenth Annual 2017 IEEE Long Island Systems, Applications and Technology Conference. At the event, 10 students were awarded tuition scholarships by the Farmingdale College Foundation and the IEEE-LISAT2017 Conference.
Scholarships were awarded in four categories: Engineering Technology, Security Systems, Computer Systems and Social Science Research Institute.
The winners include:
- Jesse Jimenez ’17 has graduated with a degree in Security Systems. He earned inclusion in the President’s and Dean’s Lists and is an Engineering Technology scholarship winner. He describes himself as deadline oriented, with a diligent work ethic, and solid critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Jenna DeCordova ’18 – an Applied Mathematics major who won a Computer Systems scholarship, he has been on the President’s List, and is a member of both the Golden Key Honor Society and Sigma Beta Delta. In 2010, she earned an FSC associate degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, and membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She also won the Student Award for Academic Excellence. This summer she will intern at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
- Madison Schaefer ’18 won an Engineering Technology scholarship while majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology. In 2016 she was inducted into Epsilon Pi Tau International Honor Society for Professionals in Technology and Golden Key International Honor Society and is a member of the IEEE club.
- Paul Hilton ’18 won an Engineering Technology scholarship. An Electrical Engineering Technology major, he has earned a 4.0 GPA in his major and is a member of Epsilon Pi Tau Honor Society and Golden Key Honor Society. He plays five musical instruments and has built his own recording studio.
- Jaclyn DeRosa ’17 will graduate in December2017 with a degree in Security Systems, the field in which she won her scholarship. She holds a near-perfect GPA, and currently works as an intern for School of Business network administrator Ken Tax.
- Nikola Georgiev ’18 is working toward degrees in both Computer Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology. He has been on the President’s List during his entire time at FSC, and when he was a fershman was named one of the top students in the incoming 2014 class. He won an Engineering Technology scholarship.
- Nicholas Laiosa ’18 is a President’s and Dean’s List student, and winner of an Engineering Technology scholarship. He is an IEEE club member, with a dual major in Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology.
- Steven Mazza ’18 is working toward two degrees, Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology. He is president of the IEEE Club and a student member of the IEEE Association. Says Steven: “My experience at FSC has greatly facilitated my aspirations to become an electrical engineer and a hard-working member of the engineering industry.” He won an Engineering Technology scholarship.
- Dwight DaSilva ’18 will have completed his BS in Electrical Engineering Technology next spring. He currently works full-time as a technician for Parabit System, an engineering company. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in nanotechnology or solid-state electronics. His goal to secure a career in the field of nanotechnology.
- James Sagos ’18 is studying for his Mechanical Engineering Technology degree. Says James about his appreciation for all things mechanical: “It’s fascinating to see what people can do and how we can learn about our environment and manipulate it to create things that are only limited by our imagination.” James is founder of the campus chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and an SGA Senator.
