Student, Alums Publish Physics Paper in Prestigious Journal
August 24, 2020
Congratulations to an FSC Physics student and two alumni of the program, on the acceptance of their latest paper by the peer-reviewed journal, Physical Review Materials. Its title: A new trigonal polymorph of Li2MnO3.
Authors of the paper include:
- Bingying Xia, who will attend Stony Brook’s Molecular Biology PhD program this fall, with a full scholarship and stipend. She leaves Farmingdale with three peer-reviewed publications.
- Maya Arengo is a CSTEP student, who is continuing her work with the FSC research group.
- Nida Rajput graduated FSC in 2019, and is a second-year medical school student.
“These students had to complete their research virtually this summer, which makes their accomplishment all the more remarkable,” says Dr. Jack Simonson, assistant professor of Physics. “Despite not having laboratory access since March, they analyzed data on their own computers from home, and wrote the manuscript using online collaborative word-processing software. Their tenacity and dedication is inspiring.”
