FSC Dental Hygiene Team Gives Kids a Smile
February 10, 2020
The Dental Hygiene department is hosting its 13th annual Give Kids a Smile event on Friday, 2/21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children ages 1 – 17, and parents/caregivers, are invited to the Dental Hygiene Care Center in Gleeson Hall, for free oral screenings, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and oral health education. The event serves children in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Faculty and students will administer the services.
Give Kids a Smile is free, but an appointment is necessary. Call 934-420-2534. Snow date is Friday, 2/28.
As an inter-professional event, speech pathologists will also participate. Students and faculty will also provide blood-pressure screenings for parents/caregivers. Students and faculty from the Medical Laboratory Science department will demonstrate proper hand-washing techniques.
Give Kids a Smile is sponsored nationally by the American Dental Association. It’s goal is to provide oral health care to underserved children without access to preventive dental care. Approximately 200 children, parents, and volunteers are expected at the event.
Sponsors include Henry Schein, Colgate, and KaVo Kerr.
