Workshop Introduces Faculty to SUNY COIL
A workshop about COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) will introduce faculty to the SUNY program that connects students and professors online for collaborative projects and discussions.
COIL is a project-based methodology for providing students with collaboratively developed, co-taught intercultural learning experiences. Members of the SUNY COIL Center will present activities, and provide information on what is involved in implementing a COIL project in existing courses.
Guest speakers are Dr. Mirjam Hauck and Dr. Jan McCauley.
Dr. McCauley is assistant director of SUNY COIL. She was an adjunct professor of Latin American History and Cultural Anthropology at SUNY Broome Community College, where she helped launch a COIL initiative.
Dr. Hauck is senior lecturer in the Department of Languages at Open University/UK, where she has been investigating use of technologies for learning and teaching languages and cultures.
The event is organized by Dr. Chiara De Santi, Modern Languages Department, and Karen Gelles, director of Greenley Library.
