Dr. Tino Posillico Named Head of Protect New York Think Tank
January 13, 2020
Dr. Tino Posillico, Department of Criminal Justice, has been appointed President pro tem of Protect New York. Protect New York is an academic and professional think tank devoted to research and education to help protect New Yorkers from terrorism and natural disasters. Protect New York operates under the auspices of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, and is housed at FSC.
Dr. Posillico’s appointment is part of an effort to re-align the focus of Protect New York with the latest concerns and issues affecting New York State and its metropolitan centers, by increasing participation and communication with police operations, homeland security officials, and intelligence experts.
“The shifting landscape of external and internal threats to New York’s residents, students, and infrastructure must be continually updated so that true protection approaches can be implemented effectively,” Dr. Posillico says.
“With the upcoming formation of a new Center for Criminal Justice and new academic programs in policing and related social science fields, FSC has a good combination of research opportunities, experts, and talented students that can feed into the new and updated focus of Protect New York and its mission.”
