December 16, 2019
Professor Orla LoPiccolo, chair of the Department of Architecture and Construction Management, has won the 2019 AIA Long Island Chapter’s Archi Educator’s Award.
The award is presented “to an architectural firm or individual architect who through their [sic] actions have increased the quality of life within the community.” AIA (American Institute of Architects) is the voice of the architectural profession and a resource for its members in service to society.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award,” Professor LoPiccolo says. “To be recognized by my peers for my work in educating future architectural and construction management professionals is very special. Many thanks to my husband Phil and daughter Grace for their love and support.”
Professor LoPiccolo also received a proclamation from NYS Senator Todd Kaminsky. It read, in part: “…When individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those individuals for the edification and emulation of others… I, New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky, recognize that in Orla Smyth-LoPiccolo we have an individual worthy of our highest respect and esteem.”
