FSC is once again planning to reduce expenses and conserve energy by maintaining services to a minimum number of buildings during the holiday break this year. In an effort to maximize energy savings and promote sustainability, most campus buildings will close Friday evening, 12/20, 2019 through, and including, Wednesday, 1/1, 2020. All campus buildings will reopen for normal operations at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, 1/2, 2020.
During this time frame, all staff are encouraged to use vacation, holiday, or compensatory leave credits. Physical Plant and University Police staff must check with their immediate supervisors regarding their work status through this period. As a reminder, part-time staff are not permitted to work during the holiday break.
If you are a member of Professional or Classified Staff, and you plan to work during this period, please complete this form and return it to your supervisor as soon as possible. Completed forms must be submitted to Human Resources in Whitman Hall by Wednesday, 12/4. No forms will be accepted after that date.
Please take personal items or work materials you may need during the break when you leave work on Friday, 12/20. You will be unable to access your office during this period. Food Service facilities and The Children’s Center will remain closed during the break.
For those of you without sufficient vacation or holiday leave credits, or employees who wish to work, an alternate location on campus will be available. College computers and network access will be available. However, keep in mind that duties may be altered somewhat to accommodate the changed location. Although supervision will be provided, there will be no group work tasks assigned during the week; therefore it is expected that staff will report with their own work.
Please contact Human Resources, ext. 2107, with questions regarding the break period and/or the use of leave credits during the break period. Please note, there are six (6) working days during the break this year, so please ensure you have sufficient vacation or holiday time accruals in order to charge time appropriately.
Please be sure all departments leave a message on their telephone voice mails explaining that Farmingdale State College will be closed from the evening of Friday, 12/20, 2019, and reopen Thursday, 1/2, 2020, as part of its energy-saving program. |
