FSC’s Own Honored During Hispanic Heritage Month
October 21, 2019
All this month, SUNY has been recognizing Hispanic members of the SUNY community with a Twitter campaign by Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson.
Last week, two of our own – Sylvia Nicosia, Director of Web Programming and Development in the Office for Institutional Advancement, and Dr. Erwin Cabrera, Director of the RAM program – were included in the campaign.
The Chancellor recognized Nicosia for her role at FSC; her membership in SUNY’s Faculty Senate Committee on Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity; her position as head of FSC’s Electronic and Information Accessibility Office; her award-winning presentations at national conferences; awards for FSC’s website redesign; and her activities with FSC’s Multicultural Committee. It’s no secret that she is one of FSC’s most accomplished alumna.
Dr. Cabrera was noted for a $300,000 grant he won from the National Science Foundation, which will be used to mentor minority PhD STEM students with the goal of hiring them as full-time faculty.
