July 22, 2019
Sylvia Nicosia, Director of Web Programming and Development in the Office for Institutional Advancement, has been appointed to two high-profile SUNY work groups – one on the web side and the other a social justice initiative.
First, Nicosia has been named FSC’s Electronic & Information Technology (EIT) Accessibility Officer, where she will help set the direction of FSC’s web accessibility plan, policy, compliance, and awareness. She has also been appointed to SUNY’s EIT Advisory Council, where she will help the campuses with their implementation plans.
Nicosia will also serve on the SUNY Faculty Senate Committee on Equity, Inclusion and Diversity. The committee will address issues pertaining to equity, inclusiveness, and access, as they are reflected in the curriculum, student body, and personnel of SUNY. Among the activities of the committee will be collecting and disseminating information, organizing periodic meetings and workshops, and providing guidance and recommendations to the Senate so that it may act with the best intentions of all people in mind.
