FSC alum Sal Ferro ’84, president and CEO of Alure Home Improvements, has made a gift of $2,500 to the Farmingdale College Foundation to provide text books for students who cannot afford them.
The funds, which have come through the Ferro Foundation, will be administered by the Financial Aid office, which will work directly with our Barnes & Noble bookstore.
Ferro, a member of the Foundation board, graduated FSC with an associate’s degree in business. He was also president of the Business Club, and one of his finest moments at FSC was the year he was named Homecoming King, and helped build a float for the Homecoming parade.
As for his gift, Ferro said: “I was inspired to provide book scholarships for students because of what I experienced when I attended college. I wanted to help fill in the gaps.”
Ferro added that his affection for FSC has followed him his entire life.
“I look back at the time I spent at Farmingdale State College with extreme fondness. The memories and friendships I will always cherish, the experience and education I will always be thankful for. It is a major block in the foundation that has made me the man I am today, and I’m thrilled to be able to give back to a school that has given me so much.”
