Dr. Brian Kelly a Leading Expert in Police Body Cameras
April 22, 2019
Security Systems and Law Enforcement Technology professor, Dr. Brian Kelly, spoke recently at a conference for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in Baltimore. The research shared is a continuation of a case study he has been conducting with a New Jersey police department, about adopting body cameras for its officers, and officers’ perceptions of their performance while utilizing this technology. Dr. Kelly begins work on his third and fourth studies on police body cameras this fall.
Said Dr. Kelly of his presentation at the conference: “It was great to hear about my study being accepted this year. The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences is a big organization and highly recognized.
“I presented the post-test results of my study with New Jersey police officers, about how they have adapted to three years of wearing body cameras. This topic always seems to gain a bit of attention nationally. I look forward to future studies in this area.”
Dr. Kelly will appear on the PBS program, SciTech Now, 8/5 at 7:30 p.m.; 8/7 at 5:30 p.m.; and 8/11 at 6 p.m.
