Dr. De Santi Helps Rate Fulbright Applications
December 10, 2018
Dr. Chiara De Santi, assistant professor of modern languages, recently served on the Fulbright U.S. Student Programs National Screening Committee, under the auspices of the Institute of International Education. She was selected to the committee at the recommendation of a peer at another academic institution.
Her work as a Fulbright applications’ reviewer involved examining more than 70 applications from students who want to spend a year in southern Italy, to support instructors of English in Italian high schools.
Dr. De Santi said: “The experience was one of the most rewarding I have ever had, because it allowed me to see inside a work in progress in the form of applicants who are forging their life journey, with plans and projects that will guide them throughout the discovery of their goals and passions. I draw pride from being able to contribute to the public good by helping send abroad ambassadors who represent the U.S. as a multicultural and welcoming country.”
