Learn the Ancient Japanese Art of Flower Arrangement
Attention, faculty and students from the urban horticulture and design department. Learn about Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging, at a workshop led by Yoshie Takahashi, professor at the Ikenobo School of Ikebana for more than 40 years.
There are two sessions: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
There is a $45 fee to attend the workshop, due no later than Friday, 10/5. To register, and for more information, contact Ann Rodenburg at Farmingdale Village Hall, 516-249-0093, ext. 204.
“As a member of the Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts committee, I’d like to invite students, faculty and staff from the college to attend this event and learn about this ancient tradition of flower arranging,” said Vicki Gruber, adjunct professor in the professional communications department. “It’s appropriate not just for horticultural students, but for anyone who’d like to learn about Japanese culture, or learn creative ways to arrange flowers, leaves, grasses and branches in any season, or simply develop a deeper appreciation of nature. The committee has always encouraged a strong connection between the Village and the College.”
