Pre-Health Professions Advisement Breaks Applications-to-Acceptances Record
September 5, 2018
The Office of Pre-Health Professions Advisement just completed its most successful application cycle, posting a 36% success rate (to date) of applications to acceptances. The success rate is at or above national acceptance rates.
Overall, 216 applications were accepted for placement in health programs across the country; 77 students were accepted to 75 different programs. Among the institutions FSC students will attend include: Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, New York Institute of Technology, College of Osteopathic Medicine, New York University, Cornell University, Hofstra University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and SUNY College of Optometry.
“It is very exciting and truly an honor to share the successes of the pre-health students with the campus,” said Professor Amanda Lavery, pre-health professions advisor. “All of them work very hard to manage course loads, while working and gaining experience in their respective fields. Graduate health programs have expressed to me on many occasions how impressed they are with the caliber of Farmingdale State College students. Our students are very well prepared to become the future leaders of the healthcare industry, and it’s a privilege to work with them every day.”
The 2018-2019 application cycle already looks strong. Several students have received offers to programs, the earliest acceptances in recent memory.
