“I am so grateful for the role¬†that Farmingdale has played in preparing me for this amazing research opportunity.”

That’s senior Tunisia Solomon speaking, about her just-completed, summer-long internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory. And not only did she participate in the Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Internship program, she was selected to present her research on the final day of the program, and speak about her experience at the lab at the summer session’s closing ceremony.

This was Solomon’s second internship at BNL. She did research in computer programming last year at the National Synchrotron Light Source II, and this summer chose to take her mathematical and computer programming skills and apply them at BNL’s National Nuclear Data Center. Her project: “Evaluation of fission data for reactor applications.”

“Being a part of this brilliant summer intern group was a life-changing, invaluable, experiential-learning opportunity. I am SO grateful to have spent my summer at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and I know that I am a better person, student, and researcher because I was there.”
