SPECTRUM Conference Rallies Behind LGBTQI+ Community

SUNY’s SPECTRUM Conference – the largest higher
education conference in the nation spectrum-logodedicated specifically to preventing and responding to sexual and interpersonal violence against members of the LGBTQI+ community – is being held June 18-21 at Albany Capital Center, in Albany.

The main conference, June 19-20, will feature concurrent sessions with thought leaders in higher education, medical, crisis response, law enforcement, and other disciplines. Keynote addresses will be given by Jane Clementi, founder of the Tyler Clementi Foundation; Dr. Genny Beemyn, director of the Stonewall Center; and Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage.

June 18 and 21 will feature pre- and post-conference deep-dive training from organizations such as Bringing in the Bystander, 20:1, One Love Foundation, and more.

The conference is open to SUNY and non-SUNY public and private college professionals; government agency, coalition, and community organization professionals; and graduate students.
