Five Receive SUNY’s Chancellor Award for Student Excellence

Five FSC students have won the coveted Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.
The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to recognize students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement or career achievement.
This year’s winners are:
Robert Adolfsen Mechanical Engineering Technology Robert’s passion for engineering led him to FSC to pursue his associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering technology. He has excelled academically , and serves as instructional support technician in the automotive technology department. |

Bradley Correia Nursing Bradley has excelled both in and out of the classroom. He earned the 2017 SUNY ACT Award for Student Excellence and the 2016 Farmingdale Orientation Leader of the Year Award. He is treasurer of the Student Nurse Association, and volunteers as a peer mentor. Bradley has been inducted into the Chi Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and the Golden Key Honor Society. |

Emily Mc Cue Nursing Emily has received Dean’s and President’s List honors and earned the 2018 Lillian Kiely Excellence in Nursing Scholarship. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She volunteers at flu clinics for senior citizens, and nutrition centers providing food to the community. Emily is a leader and board member of the Student Nurse Association. |

Matthew Schinasi Applied Psychology Matthew has excelled in academics, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and received numerous academic scholarships. He is vice president of the Golden Key Honor Society and senator for the Student Government Association. He will pursue his master’s in industrial/organizational psychology. |

Daniel Parks Mechanical Engineering Technology Daniel is an aspiring materials scientist and crystallographer. He completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology as the Fall 2017 valedictorian. He has pursued research in the fields of mechanical engineering and experimental condensed matter physics, where he has discovered two entirely new materials. He plans to pursue a PhD in materials science. |

Johnson. “From research publications in industry journals to volunteering in hospitals and local clinics to holding leadership roles at their institutions, I am inspired by each student we recognize today.
