- Curing tobacco requires 11.4M tons of wood each year.
Compromised Air Quality
- Exhaled tobacco smoke (8.76M CO2) = emissions of nearly 3M transatlantic flights
- Tobacco manufacturing plants release ammonia, nicotine, hydrochloric acid, methanol and nitrates
Polluted Earth and Water
- 145M – 308M tons of waste tobacco litters the world
- More than 7,000 toxic chemicals contained in tobacco waste leach into the ground and water
