Vets, Students Raise Money for Puerto Rico
October 6, 2017
Eric Farina, director of FSC’s Office of Veterans Services, knew he had to do something for the people of Puerto Rico when he saw photos of how Hurricane Maria had devastated their country.
With a goal of $200, he began collecting donations from student veterans, and soon students in his History 332 class were pitching in too. Once the ball began rolling, Farina realized he would well exceed his original goal.
The bottom line: $661 was raised and used to buy diapers, baby wipes, baby food and formula, feminine hygiene products and more than 50 bars of soap. The supplies were then dropped off at NYS Police Troop L barracks in Farmingdale.
Farina had also raised money for victims of Hurricane Harvey.
