Bravo to Our 2017 CARES Award Winners
October 2, 2017
The winners of this year’s CARES award were announced at Convocation, and they include math professor John Drivas; transfer services director Judi Cestaro; and custodial staff member Arlene Haynesworth.
CARES awards (Commendation and Recognition for Exceptional Service) are presented once a year, for exemplary work on behalf of students, faculty and staff. Candidates are nominated by faculty, staff and students.
Drivas, who has taught at FSC both full time and part time, won his award as a result of a letter written by a graduating student apprehensive about passing his class, and appreciative of his personal help.
Cestaro was also nominated by a student. She is well known for her energy, engaging personality and enthusiasm for fitness. An alumna, she was named valedictorian of her class.
Haynesworth has been a member of the campus community for 20 years. Her job description? Making sure that the perfect finishing touch is put on every campus event. Her supervisor says that her scope of responsibility falls under the category “EVERYTHING.”
