Artists TypeThursday Bring Their Unique Work to FSC
October 2, 2017
Tuesday, 10/3, 11 a.m. – noon Gleeson Hall Room 104
A lecture by TypeThursday, type designers that describe their group as “a meeting place for people who love letterforms.”
A peek inside the creative process of type design reveals a hallowed combination of technology, art, and craft. The elements of typography are employed every time a font is chosen for a project, and is often not noticed by casual observers. But type design requires intensive training, dedication to the craft and years to develop expertise.
A reception will be held that evening from 5 – 7 p.m. in Hale Hall.
Some of the artists lecturing are on view at the Gallery show – “What You See Is NOT What You Get” – through November 13. The type designers featured in this exhibition range from early practitioners to seasoned professionals, working at the
award-winning foundry Commercial Type and independent ventures.
