2017 CTLT Award Winners

Dr. Mihaela Radu

Prof. Orla Smyth LoPiccolo

The 2017 CTLT Annual Conference featured awards being presented to three FSC faculty members for their outstanding work in and out of the classroom. This year’s winners are:

  • Dr. Mihaela Radu, Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology, Award for Outstanding Faculty Mentorship for her work with students on directed research leading to presentations, publications, scholarships, fellowships, and awards. When accepting her award, Dr. Radu remarked that this was like winning an Oscar.
  • Prof. Orla Smyth LoPiccolo, Architecture and Construction Management, Award for Innovative Pedagogy for her “Service Learning Existing Condition Construction Drawing Team Project.” Professor LoPiccolo mentioned her project started when former congressman Steve Israel asked for help with 12 VA buildings.  She ended up with more than 250 students in the field who measured 71 buildings.

    Dr. Jack Simonson

  • Dr. Jack Simonson, Physics, Award for Outstanding Scholarly Publication for his article, “CaMn2Al10: Itinerant Mn Magnetism on the Verge of Magnetic Order” published in Physical Review B.
