Nicole Franz ’18, a junior psychology major and star of FSC’s women’s cross country and track & field teams, has won a SUNY Scholar Athlete Award. She is one of only 77 students in all of SUNY to be so honored.
“It takes a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work to achieve such a high level of academic and athletic success,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “Congratulations to all of the students receiving this year’s SUNY scholar athlete award, as well as the faculty, coaches, and staff across SUNY who support and inspire them to be the best.”
Franz is a Dean’s List and President’s List student, having achieved that success five times. This season she helped the Rams cross country team to its first-ever Skyline Conference Championship while finishing 4th in the race. In indoor track, she is ranked #4 All-Time in the 500m, in outdoor track she is ranked #4 All-Time in the 800m, and #8 All-Time in the 1,500m. She holds Top 10 rankings in the 4x800m Relay and Distance Medley Relay. She is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
