Queen Sang It, FSC Sports Did It!

“We are the champions, my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions, we are the champions
No time for losers ’cause we are the champions
Of the world”

So sang the legendary British band Queen, in their anthemic hit song “We are the Champions.” They sang it, but FSC sports teams did it.

To say 2016 was a banner year for FSC athletics would be a gross understatement when you consider this:

Five teams won Skyline Conference championships in the fall: Golf, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Tennis and Volleyball. A school record!
Four coaches were named Coach of the Year – more than in any one season in school history. They are George Cangero (Golf), Daniela Georgieva (Women’s Cross Country), Adam Waterhouse (Women’s Tennis) and David Mayerson (Volleyball).

“We are so proud of our teams that captured championships and the coaches who were voted Coach of the Year by their peers,” said Tom Azzara, Director of Athletics for Compliance and Operations. “Our student-athletes continue to balance academic excellence with athletic achievement and that is a true testament to them as well as their coaches.”
