Sculptor John Cino Exhibiting At FSC Beginning Nov. 22
November 14, 2016
Long Island sculptor John Cino is exhibiting at Memorial Gallery in Hale Hall beginning Tuesday, November 22 and running through February 13, 2017.
The show – “The Sacred or the Profane” – is open for viewing weekdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Cino will discuss his work Tuesday, November 29, in Gleeson Hall Room 104, from 11 a.m. – noon. A reception for, and a performance by, Cino is scheduled for 5 – 7 p.m. in Hale Hall.
In describing his pieces, which he creates at his studio in Patchogue, Cino says: “Searching for a phrase that best describes my work I have settled on ‘dynamic systems’. Much like the union of feminine and masculine, yin and yang, I create systems of connections in a variety of media which evolve into something new.”
In this exhibition, the artist displays his recent sculpture in an installation that presents a dichotomy. It is up to the viewer to decide which side represents the sacred and which represents the profane.
The exhibit is curated by Beth Giacummo, director of Memorial Gallery.
