Colin Goldberg
Long Island artist Colin Goldberg – who describes his intersection of traditional and digital art-making as techspressionism – is exhibiting at Memorial Gallery now through November 15.
The show – “History of the Future” – is a survey of Goldberg’s work from 2009 through 2015. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.– 4 p.m., weekdays. The show is curated by Beth Giacummo, the gallery’s new director.
Goldberg – who works out of his studio in Rocky Point – will discuss and demo his work Tuesday, October 18, in Gleeson 104, from 11 a.m. – noon. A reception for the artist is scheduled for 5 – 7 p.m. in Hale Hall.
The artist’s work is informed by a diverse range of sources, including Abstract Expressionist painters such as Franz Kline and Clyfford Still; Japanese calligraphy and woodcuts; and pop-era artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol. Goldberg’s work resides in numerous private and corporate collections, as well as the permanent collection of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton. His work has been exhibited at museums, galleries and art fairs across the United States.
