Lights! Camera! Action! It’s President Nader!
August 15, 2016
President Nader made his New York television debut with an appearance on Exit 10/55, a weekly public affairs show hosted by Richard Rose.
Rose, a veteran New York newsman, began the interview with a look at FSC’s Smart Energy House.
President Nader told Richard about some new technologies that may be coming soon, and then they moved to the President’s vision for the college, student success, and FSC’s place in higher education on Long Island.
Among the highlights of the interview:
- Mission #1 – raise the profile of the college, not just on LI but throughout the state.
- FSC’s fall enrollment is expected to surpass 9,000 students.
- This is not the FSC of previous generations. It is a vibrant, dynamic college of technology.
- Student debt among FSC graduates is slightly less than half the national average of $35,000.
- 88% of recently surveyed students said they’d found jobs within six months of graduation, and 78% said they were working in a field related to their degree.
- The campus will be aesthetically enhanced.
- Design plans for a new applied social sciences building have been submitted to the president’s office.
- Our student-athletes are among the highest academic achievers, thanks to the emphasis placed on academics by the athletics department.
