Farmingdale Always Rises to Meet the Need

Vigil.poster_oWhen news of the tragic shootings in Orlando reached the campus, many were affected.  But two people decided to do something: Audrey Krapf of Health and Wellness and Angela Jones of sociology.  With help from many, they organized a Candlelight Vigil with music, poetry, and healing words as well as a blood drive to meet the critical shortage of life-saving blood.

Long Island Blood Center reports that 53 people tried to donate (including a 1983 alumnus of our mechanical engineering technology program), 42 were able to donate, resulting in 126 lives saved by FSC’s generosity. Check out the NYBC Fact Sheet to understand why donating is so important.

Following the Vigil, Audrey received an email of thanks with the following request:

Participants are encouraged to post  photos or videos to social media with the hashtag #WeAreOrlando or #SomosOrlando so that they can be added to our global tag board for everyone to see how strong our community is at www.WeAreOrlando.org/loveboard.
