Business Students + Photographers = Innovation

Business and Visual Communications students teamed up recently for the Advertising Principles Semester Project, a joint venture designed to give students real-world experience working in the advertising department of a large to mid-size organization.
Developed by Professors Carol Lane and David Guarino, the goal was to challenge students to design a strategic plan for an intangible concept such as a social cause or consumer service. Business students were assigned a team from Professor Guarino’s photography class, who were tasked to create visual support for the campaigns.
The 12 teams collaborated to create compelling and visually persuasive campaigns based on a strategic outline. Students said they found the experience valuable, and helped them understand the rewards and challenges of working on a team project within two different disciplines.
