There’s Still Time to Learn How to Be a Mentor

Farmingdale welcomes the New York State Mentoring Program back to campus for joint recruitment and training on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. and on Thursday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m.

Representatives from the program will present a brief overview of the mentoring program, then offer training for volunteer mentors.  The nine FSC members who have already signed up to become a mentor are encouraged to attend either training session (attendance at one session only is required of all mentors).

New Mentor Training benefits everyone!  Mentors will take part in an interactive training which features small group discussion, role play and demonstrations. This training will support participants’ understanding of mentoring best practices and the program’s  school based-model. We will review program policies and expectations, answer questions and offer mentor support.  This will be the beginning of a collaborative relationship among the program staff, the school and the mentors.

New mentors are encouraged to attend even if they have not yet signed up to become a mentor. The New York State Mentoring Program welcomes you.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the scheduled sessions.

Thank you in advance for your support of our local schools and the children that they serve!
