Wrestling Club in Fifth Place

Wrestling Club Coach Jim Hall reports that the FSC Wrestling Club traveled to Amherst College on Sunday, February 7 to compete in the Groundhog Open wrestling tournament. The club was quite successful with results as follow:

5th place in team standings

  • Justin Boone, 141 lbs, Champion
    First FSC Champion at any wrestling event since mid-late 1990’s; pinned 5th ranked wrestler in NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association)
  • Mikey Illiecte, 157 lbs, 2nd place
    Forced to injury default in finals. Match was tied at time of injury.
  • Clinton Boone, 184 lbs, 3rd place
    Pinned 4th-ranked wrestler in NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association)
  • Brian Tenney, 235 lbs, 3rd place
  • Stephen Carlo, 125 lbs, 4th place
  • Brandon Nina, 133 lbs, Did not place
  • John Parkinson, 165 lbs, DNP
  • Scott Miller, 197 lbs, DNP

According to Coach Hall, “The guys did a great job. The Northeast Conference Championships are on February 27 at University of New Hampshire. This tournament serves as the qualifier for the NCWA National Championships in Kissimmee, FL, on March 10-12.”

Coach is hoping for a successful end to the season.
