Topic: The Energy Method and Corresponding Eigenvalue Problem for Navier Slip Flow
Nathaniel Prince, Farmingdale graduate 2010, and PhD candidate at RPI will present. All members of the campus community are welcome.
Abstract: “In my work, I look at several types of fluid flows with Navier slip boundary conditions and derive a method to determine an ‘energy Reynolds number’ such that the flows are asymptotically stable to all disturbances. This method results in a system of differential equations, with the energy Reynolds number appearing as the eigenvalue of the system. Numerically solving these equations yields a numerical value of the energy Reynolds number, and the values are compared with the results for flows with no-slip boundary conditions.”
Refreshments will be served.
