Congrats to Our 2016 CARES Award Winners!

The winners of this year’s CARES award were announced at Convocation, and the applause for each was sustained and sincere. The winners are Professor Joseph Betz, Architecture and Construction; Suzanne Cerruto, Registrar’s Office; and Doug LoPalo, assistant manager, Physical Plant.
CARES awards (Commendation and Recognition for Exceptional Service) are presented by President Keen once a year, for exemplary work on behalf of students, faculty and staff. Candidates are nominated by faculty, staff, and increasing numbers of students.
Professor Betz is chair of the Architecture and Construction Management department at Farmingdale and a registered architect in New York State. His teaching experience and expertise are in the areas of architectural design, theory and history. He is currently conducting research in design theory, which is funded by a grant through the National Science Foundation.
Cerruto is a Secretary 1 in the college’s Registrar’s Office. A Farmingdale alumna, she holds an Associate in Applied Science in Ornamental Horticulture.
A Farmingdale alumnus, LoPalo holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and played on the golf and soccer teams. He joined the Farmingdale staff in 2005.
