New Air Force ROTC Aerospace Studies Academic Minor First in NYS Update
January 18, 2016
A new academic minor in aerospace studies is coming to Farmingdale in fall 2016. The program is a joint effort between the college and Air Force ROTC. Not only that, the offering is exclusive to Farmingdale in New York State, says Dr. Tom Corti, Vice President for Student Affairs.
“We will be the only campus in both the state and the northeast to offer the Air Force ROTC aerospace studies academic minor. The closest programs are both in Pennsylvania, at Penn State and St. Joseph’s University.” Dr. Corti added that FSC joins an elite group of only 44 colleges and universities across the U.S. offering this program.
At its core, the program offers students a broad understanding of the concepts of aerospace power and the Air Force mission, organization, and operations. It both prepares cadets for active-duty service and offers the opportunity to study the U.S. military through courses such as The Evolution of U.S. Air and Space Power, Teamwork and Team Building, National Security Affairs, and Air Force Leadership and Management.
