Asking the Audacious Questions

This Fall Farmingdale was awarded an extremely competitive and prestigious “First in the World” grant from the US Department of Education.  As just one of 17 winners in a nation-wide competition, the College will use the $2.9 million award to implement an ambitious effort to improve the learning experiences and graduation rates of our students.

The most distinctive aspect of FSC’s grant-funded RAM (Research Aligned Mentorship) program is that it will place students and their faculty mentors in hands-on research experiences both on campus and off campus in national laboratories, research universities, business accelerators, and other research venues.

In October, to kick off this ambitious effort, Dr. Nancy Hensel, past president of the Council of Undergraduate Research, gave a keynote address at Farmingdale titled: “Engaging Students in Undergraduate Research.”  That presentation can be viewed on our First in the World website at: http://www.farmingdale.edu/fitw/ramyoutube.shtml
