Phone Scam Warning

Recently, various campus offices received phone calls asking for printer/copier information. This is part of an on-going series of scam phone calls targeting the College.

Do NOT provide any information to the caller. If you provided the information and received toner with an invoice, please report this to the Helpdesk at helpdesk@farmingdale.edu or 631-420-2754 for assistance. Do NOT process the invoice for payment.

The following are signs that the call could be a scam:
– Call is received from off-campus (double ring).
– Caller states an unknown company or on-campus department (“Service”).
– Caller states someone asked them to find out your printer/copier model.
– When you question the call or ask for name/number, they hang up.

The best approach is to question the call, the reason, who they are, where they are calling from, and not to provide any information. Write down their responses, the phone number they are calling from, and provide to the Helpdesk. Most of the time, they will quickly hang up.

Any questions, contact Helpdesk at helpdesk@farmingdale.edu or 631-420-2754.
