“Jumping Genes” and Neuronal Decline

Dr. Eleanor Fapohunda Colloquium presented by the School of Arts & Sciences. Transposable elements (TEs), which have also been referred to as “jumping genes,” are highly abundant mobile elements that make up a large fraction of the human genome and have the ability to copy and paste themselves throughout the genome with the potential to cause deleterious mutations.
