Volunteer! Do Yourself a Favor by Pitching In 10/17
October 5, 2015
Google “Is volunteering good for you?” and you’ll find out it has benefits for body, soul, and spirit. A couple of years ago the UnitedHealth Group conducted a national survey and found that most volunteers said they felt physically and emotionally better as a result of their efforts.
Now it’s your turn to help someone else – and do yourself a favor in the process. Come learn how at the 8th Annual Long Island Volunteer Fair, being held in Roosevelt Hall on Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Fifty non-profit agencies will be on hand to help you sort out the best fit for you, with opportunities such as helping youth or seniors; caring for animals; working at a soup kitchen, museum or shelter; and protecting the environment.
And there’s one more health benefit: something called the Derma Scan Machine will examine your face for melanoma.
The event is free and refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the Long Island Volunteer Center at 516-564-5482 or volunteer_fair@londislandvolunteercenter.org.
