The best-known images of Italian immigrants in the United States are those of the Italian enclaves in the urban centers of the East Coast and the Midwest, of hard lives in the face of discrimination that sometimes turned violent. The Italian immigrants to California had a very different history, of opportunities and an acceptance they did not find elsewhere. This film – for the first time – tells that story. After the film, there will be Q&A with producers Gianfranco Norelli and Suma Kurien.
