FSC’s MS in Technology Management is on the move, so to speak. That’s because a Transportation track has been added to the curriculum this fall.

“This exciting addition to our Master’s program is intended to address the unique challenges and opportunities of the transportation industry on Long Island,” says Dr. Michael Shenoda, Acting Graduate Program Coordinator, and assistant professor, Architecture and Construction Management.

“This includes a wide variety of demographics, land use, and travel patterns that come with serving as both an adjacent region to New York City, as well as a vibrant community all our own. Our central location puts us in the middle of these issues, our dedicated faculty are engaged in research on them, and our program provides the rigorous preparation required to meet the needs of the industry.”

The Transportation track in the 30-credit Master’s program includes:

  • Four core courses in business, research, and analysis
    (12 credits)
  • Three track core courses (9 credits)
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Transportation Planning Principles
  • Traffic Flow Theory and Operations
  • Elective course work, to include either a project or thesis
    (9 credits)

One of the first initiatives of the Transportation track is a webinar and workshop on increasing mobility and use of alternate modes (other than single-passenger vehicles) on Long Island. This event, part of Long Island Mobility Week, and in partnership with 511NY Rideshare and FSC’s Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center, will be held Wednesday, 9/23 at 11 a.m. It will be a virtual showcase of student and faculty work in transportation being done to address these issues.  Register here.
