Memorial Gallery Promotes PRIDE on Facebook

"My loving child, always something new" by David Antonio Cruz

"Curly Cue" by Marilyn Minter

A virtual summer PRIDE exhibition celebrating contemporary New York LGBTQIA+ artists and allies, may be viewed on Facebook now  through September 15, courtesy of Memorial Gallery.

“With PRIDE celebrations canceled alongside gatherings of all kinds, which serve as a primary source of support for many in the LGBTQIA+ community, this virtual exhibition is just one way we can all come together,” says Beth Giacummo, director of the gallery.

“EMBRACE” includes works in all media, reflecting interpretations of how the queer community has historically overcome separation, and is paving the way for far-reaching acceptance.

“‘EMBRACE’ throws open the doors of the queer community,” says Giacummo, “and allows everyone else to bask in the empathy it cultivates, extending its arms to those seeking to better understand love, acceptance, and a more complete story of the human experience.”

Nineteen artists are exhibiting, including Molly Crabapple, David Antonio Cruz, Robert Stenzel, Marilyn Minter, Lex Barberio, Nichelle Rivers, Nicklin Heapand, and Lola Flash.

The show is curated by Giacummo and Anu Annam.
