Thanksgiving Friday – Working or Staying Home?

This is message from President Nader for Classified and Management Confidential staff.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and we would like to take the opportunity to conserve energy and close down the entire campus for the long weekend.

Virtually all buildings will be closed and temperatures in these buildings reduced. Therefore, I request all classified (CSEA, PEF) employees, excluding Physical Plant and University Police staff deemed necessary by their supervisors for operations, take off the day after Thanksgiving, and charge it to the appropriate leave time (vacation, personal, or compensatory time). The same goes for Management Confidential employees.

UUP-F employees will observe Election Day on the day after Thanksgiving.

Your participation is strictly voluntary. For those who want to work, an alternate location on campus will be available. However, your job duties may be altered to accommodate the changed location.

To facilitate appropriate supervision, advise your supervisor no later than Wednesday, 11/13, of your intention to report to work. No later than Monday, 11/18, supervisors should notify Human Resources which employees will be reporting for work Friday, 11/29.

I hope this extended holiday weekend will give you an opportunity to spend more time with your families and friends, and add enjoyment to your holiday. Please accept my thanks and appreciation for your cooperation in our effort to conserve energy. Best wishes for a happy holiday.
